The Archaeologist digging down through layers of the city ruins came to a pavement of mosaic tiles. She brushed carefully at the mud-caked surface and uncovered gradually the blues, turquoise and yellow ochre of an arabesque design. She imagined the journey these hand painted fragments had taken from distant lands to settle in the Dublin soil or maybe they were part of the foundation of the city itself.
